A breatharian on a diet (photo by Ekke) |
BREATHARIAN
Noun. Late 20th century.
A person who believes that it is possible, through meditation, to reach a level of consciousness
where one requires no nutrients but those absorbed from the air or sunlight.
I suppose they'd last a bit longer than someone who adheres to the exact opposite belief.

That was so funny! :P
DeleteSo ... like ... hang on ... which opposite belief? I think I adhere to the exact opposite belief, in that I *do* require extra nutrients other than those gained by air and sunlight. Am I in danger?? Maybe there's more to this than I originally thought ...
Delete*takes a deep breath*
I was referring to a person who believes that it is possible, through meditation, to reach a level of consciousness
ReplyDeletewhere one requires only the nutrients NOT absorbed from the air or sunlight, including vitamin D and, crucially, oxygen.
Now please start breathing again because I don't want to have to start saving for an OED.

*gasps*
DeletePhew. I was getting a bit squiffy. I'm back to being a good old fashioned foodarian.
This is completely crazy.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many people have died from starvation?
More than a few, it would seem.
DeleteIf only this were true! I wouldn't have to deal with the look of disappointment in my husbands eyes on a typical day when he finds out I made pasta for dinner yet again!
ReplyDeleteI want to be a breatharian. Next time someone asks if I'm vegetarian when I look at their raw burger in disgust, I'll say I'm a wannabe breatharian. :) Gracias, Ed!
The more weird things I hear about our world, the more I question our future.
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed weird. I mean - even if it were true, why would anyone not want to eat food? It's just so damn delicious!
