BUTTINSKY
Noun. Slang (originally US). Early 20th century.
[from butt (see BUTT verb) + -sky final element in many Slavonic names.]
A person who (habitually) butts in; an intruder, a meddler.
"Hey! Zip it, buttinsky!"
I love it. I'm going to use it. Today.
Are you a buttinsky? Have you got something to say?
Do please interrupt the proceedings in the butt-in box below.
Oh, and if I may be a buttinsky on my own post, I'd like to lay claim to "Benjamin Butt-In", as in "Hey! Back off, Benjamin Butt-In!"
ReplyDeleteUnless someone else came up with it first, of course ... ?
Yes really don't like Buttinskys. Or Storytopperovskys. Or Sconserkys.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. To be a Storytopperovsky is just so damn rude.
DeleteAnd what about Timedcoffskys? You know - those whose cough perfectly coincides with (and therefore obscures) your hilariously phrased, impeccably delivered witticism: "Hey! Way to ruin my witticism, Timedkoffsky!"
So you're saying all rude people are Russian?
ReplyDeleteLexicolaracistsky.
-csky.
I was sitting here nice and quietly with a beer, and then I got to this.
DeleteI hope you clean monitor screens too C., cos mine is now in dire need of one!
But ta for the giggles sir!
Slavonic, C ... Slavonic ... not all Slavonic races are Russian, y'know.
DeleteNow who's the Generalizationinsky? Umm ... Generalitsky ... Sweepingeneralisationinsivov ... no I can't make it work. Nuts.
