BUTTINSKY

Noun. Slang (originally US). Early 20th century.
[from butt (see BUTT verb) + -sky final element in many Slavonic names.]

A person who (habitually) butts in; an intruder, a meddler.

"Hey! Zip it, buttinsky!"

I love it. I'm going to use it. Today.

Buttinsky

Are you a buttinsky? Have you got something to say?

Do please interrupt the proceedings in the butt-in box below.

  1. Oh, and if I may be a buttinsky on my own post, I'd like to lay claim to "Benjamin Butt-In", as in "Hey! Back off, Benjamin Butt-In!"

Unless someone else came up with it first, of course ... ?

  2. Yes really don't like Buttinskys. Or Storytopperovskys. Or Sconserkys.

    1. Oh yes. To be a Storytopperovsky is just so damn rude.

And what about Timedcoffskys? You know - those whose cough perfectly coincides with (and therefore obscures) your hilariously phrased, impeccably delivered witticism: "Hey! Way to ruin my witticism, Timedkoffsky!"
